In case you were interested, I've taken some photos of our dorm/apartment rooms provided by the OeAD-Housing Office (or if you prefer, "WohnraurnverwaitungsGmbH"). The weather here has been unseasonably cool and wet - we've run into many Austrians who are pretty unhappy about this - if I could, I would swap a few days of Yolo County weather for Vienna weather - it would make our country host residents happy and Yolo would get some much-needed rain. We experience rain almost daily, maybe only for a couple of minutes to ten minutes at a time. Below is the sign in front of our secured entryway:

The building is run by the OeAD housing office and has five floors of dorms in which various students reside who come from all over the world to attend semesters or years of study in Austria. Our class is unusual for the OeAD people because we are here only for a week. This is the inside entrance foyer leading to the elevator and stairs:
Mark's and my dorm/apartment represents most of the basic elements in all of the students' dorms/apts: single bed private rooms with locks, kitchen, separated toilet and shower rooms, and lots of shelves and closets for storage -- some of the students also had patios!

Take a walk with us to see the busy area and streets from Zippererstraza to Simmering, where our building is located:
Mark and I were pretty surprised to see a lot of English signage on store fronts ("Back to School" or "Sale" or "We're Open"). We also noted there were a lot of cell phone stores ("handy" is the term for a cell phone). Probably as many of these stores as there were small cafes with wonderful pastries and sandwiches.
There is very convenient public transportation where we are staying. Either the tram that can take the students to the University or to Old Vienna, or the underground metro ("Uban") which is nearly across the street from the dorms/apartments and will take us everywhere else in Vienna. This gives the students much flexibility in getting around and seeing what they wish to see (i.e., old Vienna, museums, etc.).
awesome,
